Blue

Campus UTAD, Vila Real, Portugal

2017

Blue is an art journey woven into the living landscape of the UTAD campus, in Vila Real, Portugal — a diffuse and unfolding work meant to be encountered, stumbled upon, and rediscovered at every step along the ancient path of the Corgo's pre-scarp (starting coordinates: 41.28637, -7.746367).
Neither monument nor spectacle, Blu invites a quiet dialogue with the terrain itself, planting moments of wonder into the familiar folds of the earth.

At its heart, Blue is a subtle but radical act: the unexpected transformation of a landscape element through a shift in color. This chromatic alteration acts as a perceptual tremor, a gentle shock to the habits of seeing, breaking open the anesthetized gaze we often cast upon the world. It creates a fleeting dissonance — a visual rupture that unsettles the ordinary and reveals the extraordinary.

Through this delicate interference, Blue seeks to awaken the viewer to a renewed intimacy with the living world. It reminds us that the landscape is not merely a backdrop to our passage, but a breathing entity — full of mystery, presence, and infinite becoming. It is an invitation to marvel again, to inhabit each step with wonder, and to recognize in the smallest alteration the vast, trembling beauty of being.
